Find out if you qualify
Qualifying may be easier than you think. First, you must be at least 62 years of age. If applying as a couple, only one of you has to meet this requirement, and if you have certain mobility impairments, it may be waived. You must be able to get yourself in and out of bed and to and from the dining room, even if you need to use a walker or cane.
You also need to qualify for affordable housing in Palo Alto, which means your income cannot exceed $66,150/year for individuals or $75,000 for couples (though it can be less than that amount). All sources of income, including social security, wages, pension, and others, are considered. If you have any questions about how to calculate this, feel free to contact us. We’re here to help.
How much does it cost?
If you meet both the income and age requirements, your monthly rent will be no more than 30% of your monthly income, as determined by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Veterans and their spouses may be eligible for additional Veterans Aid and Attendance benefits, which can lower this cost even more. The only additional monthly fee for is housekeeping, personal care, and medication management. Everything else that’s included in our independent living apartments is also included in assisted living.
